Dleting networks fails, June 15th, 2008
Due to a change Apple made to how threads are being locked and unlocked between Tiger and Leopard, any action that invokes a dialog can be affected by that adversely, i.e. the program falls into a deadlock and though the dialog might close after that the same action could stop working. A fix is in the works. In the meantime the webfront end at hamachi.cc can be used to make changes to the networks of your account.New release 1C8 posted, June 11th, 2008
A new version 1C8 was posted to address an issue that caused launchd to reload tuncfg over and over again on Leopard and Tiger; one symptom was a throttling respawn message being posted to the system console. It's recommended to run the Help->System support->Uninstall Systemresources menu item and then the Help->System support->Install Systemresources menu item.New release 1C7 posted, June 5th, 2008

There is an issue with PPCs under 10.5.x due to tap/tun kernel extensions being incompatible with the PPC based computers. A new version is currently in the works to address the installation issues returning with an error 1001. Stay tuned.New release 1C6 posted, May 11th, 2008

HamachiX is currently only available in English, it would be nice to get French, Italian, and Japanese localizations, too, but due to lacking the language skills only German is in progress right now. A new version 1C2 for Leopard of HamachiX was posted with latest drivers and a couple of problems fixed that could bring the system to a halt after a couple of minutes.Should you not be prompted when launching the new version you need to manually uninstall all old system files. You can use the Help menu -> System Support-> Uninstall System Resources, then reinstall the files using the Help menu -> System Support -> Install System resources.

A new version with the latest tun/tap extensions was bundled but the resulting HamachiX version not posted. The actual problem under Leopard is HamachiX creating zombies, loads of them walking your computer and eventually making HamachiX completely unresponsive. IN the worst case it can lead to needing to restart the computer. In HamachiX there is a preference setting allowing to keep the hamachi process running in the background even after HamachiX has quit. With that preferences activated one can launch HamachiX, make whatever changes are necessary, and quit it again within a few minutes. It will take all zombies created with it. A fix for the problem is being worked on.January 2nd, 2008

It's been a long time since last news update. Thanks for loads of good feedback and suggestions. hamachi and HamachiX became part of a more extensive review, sort of a video how-to here at Screencastonline.In light of the the acquisition of hamachi through logmein there are changes underway that suggest to wait with making changes to HamachiX at this point.

There were a couple of bug reports and feature requests being worked on right now. hamachi 0.9.9.9-20 was released, which will go into next HamachiX build, too, of course. HamachiX is now hosted by another server with many options that .Mac doesn't offer.Posted 1B1, June 11th, 2006

There is an issue not reported so far but soon going to pop up: after a computer joins a network it doesn't go away when same computer leaves same network again later on. Probably there are other symptoms where properties of a peer are not updated correctly. The work around is to quit HaamchiX, delete the directory ~/Library/Application Support/HamachiX and then relaunch it. It will then retrieve and rebuild the list of networks and peers from scratch.Posted 1A21, June 3rd, 2006

Latest release 1A16 is now fully universal binary, and works on Mac OS X 10.4 and later.There are also many other features, aside of fixing tons of stability and resource management issues.
Note to users of earlier versions of HamachiX (before build 1A16 of 0.9), or users who are still using a non-Universal Binary version 0.9.9.9.18 or earlier of hamachi and tuncfg
Delete your preferences file from the following location:
~/Library/Preferences/com.hamachix.HamachiXApp.plist
To make sure HamachiX uses the universal binary build of hamachi command line tool, 0.9.9.9.19, at first launch do not login, bug select Help menu ->System Support -> Uninstall System Resoures, or alternatively uninstall hamachi and tuncfg manually yourself, then select Help -> System Support -> Install System Resources. This will install UB versions for both, hamachi and tuncfg, to where they are required.
